About the Workshop

Organized by the UGC Networking Resource Centre for Materials (NRC-M) at the Department of Materials Engineering, IISc, this workshop will feature lectures by experts on issues related to interfaces and mechanical behavior of materials over a range of length scales -- from single and bicrystals to nanocrystals and glasses.

The lectures will have both pedagogical and research orientations. Each talk will focus on areas relevant to the expertise of the speaker. The presentations will allow for coverage of current areas of research, and they will allow sufficient time for discussion. Thus, the workshop will be suitable for research scholars with a strong interest in interfaces and mechanical behavior, as well as for researchers and faculty members who are keen on broadening / deepening their research interests in mechanical behavior.

In addition, the workshop will offer the participants an opportunity for networking and for exploring longer-term collaborations.

Registration

  1. For regular delegates (who do not fall under categories 2 and 3, below), the registration fee is Rs. 1,500.
  2. For student delegates, it is reduced to Rs. 750.
  3. Faculty and students from NRCM partner institutions (i.e., university departments offering degree programmes in materials, minerals, metallurgy, ceramics and polymers) are eligible for financial assistance that covers travel, per diem allowance, and registration.
