Registration Deadline extended upto 5 May 2009.

About the Workshop

Spanning six days, this Workshop will cover topics of contemporary research exploring microstructural engineering and design. Specifically, lectures in this Workshop will address the links between processing and microstructures as well as microstructures and material properties. The coverage will include all material systems: metals and alloys, ceramics, thin films, surfaces, smart materials and composites.

The Workshop will feature lectures by invited speakers, as well as presentations contributed by participants. The invited lectures will be for 50+10 minutes, while the contributed papers will be for 15+5 minutes.

Important Note: Due to logistical constraints, this Workshop is restricted to 30 participants.

Topics

Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Microstructural measures
  2. Microstructures in steels, titanium alloys, nickel-base superalloys, light alloys, ...
  3. Solidification microstructures
  4. Texture and grain boundary engineering
  5. Microstructures and alloy design
  6. Smart materials
  7. Sintering
  8. Microstructures and mechanical behaviour
  9. Deformation-induced microstructural changes
  10. Surface modification techniques

Who should apply
