The mandate of NRC-M — the Centre — includes broader ‘outreach’ activities, including summer schools, winter workshops and other meetings and conferences.
Summer Schools: Two summer schools will be held every year, each lasting 3 to 4 weeks. These will consist of didactic lectures, followed by hands-on exposure to experimental or modeling methods, as appropriate. In addition, lectures on topics of broad interest to the materials community will be delivered.
Winter Workshops: Two winter workshops will be held every year focused on subjects of contemporary research interest. Spread typically over 7-10 days, the talks will cover overviews as well as presentations of cutting edge research.
Typically, 25-40 people (research students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty members) will be enrolled for a school or workshop. All expenses, including board, lodging, and to-and-fro travel costs, will be covered.
