Funded by the University Grants Commission, the Networking Resource Centre for Materials (NRC-M) was founded in March 2008, and is a part of the Department of Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science.
The mandate of NRC-M — the Centre — is to promote interactions with academic institutions in materials science and engineering. These interactions fall under two distinct categories:
- Collaborations between researchers at the Centre and those at partner institutions. The idea is to leverage the expertise and the research infrastructure available at the Centre to help augment the infrastructure, skills and research profile of the partner institutions.
- Summer Schools, Winter Workshops and Discussion Meetings are open — subject to limits on numbers — to faculty members and students from all UGC-recognized academic institutions.
