High temeperature high vacuum furnaces- Furnace with Molybdenum heating element, which can go up to 1400 deg. Celcius under high vacuum (~0.000001 mbar). Another similar furnace but with Tungsten heating element that can go up to 2000 deg. Celcius is being installed. These furnaces are idea for diffusion couple technique. |

High temperature high vacuum tube furnaces- Two tube furnaces (1400 deg. Celcius) and one furnace (1200 deg. C) are connected with high vacuum system (~0.000001 mbar). These furnaces are also very useful for diffusion couples |

Tube furnaces- There are several tube furnaces in the temperature range of 100-600 deg. Celcius and 600-1050 deg. Celcius are available. Samples are clamped in steel fixtures and then sealed in high vacuum in quartz capsule to conduct experiments on diffusion couples. |

Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) - TEM with EDAX and GATAN fixtures is available in the Department |

EPMA (JEOL FEG)- Jeol EPMA is being acquired. This is equipped with FEG gun. Further, WDS and EDS can be used together to analyse 21 elements together. |

Scanning electron microscope (SEM): Scanning electron microscope with EDX is available in the Department. |

Scanning Electron Microscope (Sirion)- Scanning electron microscope, equipped with FEG gun, EDX spectrometers and attachment for EBSD analysis is available. |

Transmission Electron Microscope (FEI)- High resolution (300 kV) TEM is available to study materials in atomic level. |
