We extend our congratulations and best wishes to Professor Surappa who is leaving us to take charge of IIT-Ropar, in Punjab. This new IIT presently operates out of IIT-Delhi but will be re-locating to Punjab from the 2009-10 academic year in July. As with most of the other new institutions, it will begin with undergraduate programmes in Mechanical Engg., Electrical Engg. and Computer Science. The new campus will come up in Ropar which is about 40 km. from Chandigarh on the way to Shimla. We're sure Prof. Surappa will have plenty of visitors from IISc on their way to cooler parts in the summer. For photos of the farewell dinner, click here.
